Description
The Whispering Knights is a creative Collage by artist Amy Letts based on the Standing Stones in Oxfordshire. Located opposite The Rollright Stones, the Whispering Knights is believed to predate them by over 1000 years and is one of the most ancient portal tombs in the UK.
The ancient site, nestled within the idyllic English countryside, is rendered in a patchwork of artistic fragments, each contributing to the tapestry of its mystique.
This enchanting collage was created using hand-made paper, watercolours, acrylic paint and marbled paper. The stones themselves were made using a techniques Amy Letts calls ‘Bubble Printing.’ Using washingup liquid, watercolours and ink, bubbles are blown and pressed against paper to create an impression.
The colourful background uses different papers to create a patchwork of fields. This piece was influenced by the work of Rebecca Vincent and Denise Labadie.
